Crafting Giants – Celebrating Bengalla Mine’s largest mining excavator

Pure Gold Films was commissioned by Bengalla Mining to capture the assembly, commissioning, and operation of the largest excavator ever introduced to their site — the Liebherr R 9800. This 800-tonne giant is a monumental piece of machinery, and its arrival marked a significant milestone for Bengalla.

We created a comprehensive series of videos and photos documenting every phase of the project, from the initial assembly to its first day of operation. This project spanned multiple site visits and involved the use of video, still photography, drone footage, timelapse sequences, and interviews with key personnel.

Our goal was to not only document the scale and complexity of the build but also to celebrate the teamwork and dedication of everyone involved in bringing this remarkable excavator to life.

The result is a series that both Bengalla and Liebherr-Australia were proud to share, marking this significant achievement for their teams.
