Taking automation to new levels: Innovation at Newmont Cadia underground mine

Pure Gold Films teamed up with Epiroc to tell an incredible story at Newmont’s Cadia East mine, one of the biggest underground mines in Australia. Over three days on site (including two days 1.2 kilometres underground!), our crew of three worked closely with the Newmont and Epiroc teams to capture all the action.

This was a compelx video to plan and execute, so a lot of time went into our planning process. Before we even picked up a camera, we spent time with the client to really understand what they wanted to achieve and what messages were important to get across. While the main goal was to produce the case study video, we also captured a series of still images along the way.

The final video highlights how Newmont and Epiroc pushed the boundaries of mining automation, integrating different OEM machines into a single system and running operations fully remotely. It is a world-first achievement that is not only making mining safer but also setting a new benchmark for the industry. We are proud to have helped share this story.
