Uncle Paul Bong – Indigenous Artist Film for Queensland Museum

The Brief

Queensland Museum engaged Pure Gold Films to produce video content supporting the promotion of new works added to their Aboriginal Cultures collection, featuring Indigenous artist Uncle Paul Bong.

While the wider project included a long form interview exploring Uncle Paul’s story and artistic practice, this portfolio piece focuses on the short-form social teaser designed to drive awareness and engagement across the museum’s digital channels.

Our Approach

We created a 30 second social media edit drawn from a five minute interview, carefully selecting moments that conveyed meaning, identity, and creative intent in a concise format. Using dramatic music, high-impact pacing, and detailed close-ups of Uncle Paul’s artwork, the edit was designed to stop the scroll while remaining respectful and authentic.

The video balances powerful interview excerpts with visually striking shots of the artworks, allowing the artist’s voice and practice to sit at the centre of the piece. Particular care was taken in tone and execution to ensure the content aligned with the museum’s cultural responsibilities and storytelling standards.

The Outcome

The final 30 second teaser provided Queensland Museum with a compelling, shareable asset used to promote the Aboriginal Cultures collection across its digital platforms. The video helped extend the reach of the collection, drawing attention to Uncle Paul Bong’s work through a concise, people-led story crafted specifically for social media.
